“Percorsi in ceramica” Grand Prix 2013-2015
The latest issue of the magazine published by Casalgrande Padana is dedicated entirely to the tenth edition of the Grand Prix architecture competition

The tenth edition of the Casalgrande Padana Grand Prix came to a close on Friday 27 May 2016 with the awards ceremony for the winning architects, which was held in the Aula Magna of the IUAV University of Venice in the picturesque and historical Tolentini Complex, and was attended by over 300 people. The guest of honour at the event was architect Simone Sfriso from TAMassocciati, who gave a presentation on the themes of the 15 th Venice Architecture Biennale, for which the TAMassociati team curated the Italian Pavilion. The 33 rd issue of “Percorsi in Ceramica” is dedicated entirely to this important event in the world of construction, in which ceramics are the true protagonist. The Grand Prix was established in 1990 on the initiative of Casalgrande Padana, which has always been particularly sensitive and attentive to evolutions and innovations on the international architectural scene.

The priority objective of the initiative is to select and award the most meaningful works that have most succeeded in making the most of the technical properties and expressive potential of Casalgrande Padana’s porcelain stoneware elements in the various fields of construction. Over the last twenty-five years, ceramic materials, above all porcelain stoneware, have evolved further both in terms of aesthetics and performance, returning to the fore in construction. Testimony to this is the history of the Grand Prix itself, particularly this 2013- 2015 edition, which over 150 architects from all over the world participated in, presenting works of high quality overall that are worthy of appreciation, as the international jury pointed out. As well as presenting the works of the winners, this issue of “Percorsi in ceramica”, gives an overview of the first twenty-five years of this important initiative, talking about them with the President of Casalgrande Padana, Franco Manfredini, the creator and one of the most ardent supporters of the competition, who has been the president of the international jury in each and every edition.
